On the occasion of the European Days of Jewish Culture we kindly invite you to the events organised by the Judaica Research Centre at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania in partnership with the Lithuanian Culture Institute and the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History. This year the theme for the European Days of Jewish Culture is Memory. Visiting from Italy Professor Adachiara Zevi will speak on the relationship between memory and art, architecture and monuments.
On September 1st at 6 pm the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania will open a personal exhibition by Ukrainian designer and artist Kateryna Beslik titled “Huliaipole – My Little Homeland”.

Join us for the opening presentation of the online art exhibition by the “They Have a Name” project. We will be sharing real stories of trafficking victims from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, and engaging in a discussion about human trafficking in the Baltic Sea Region.
This year Lithuania celebrated two very significant dates – the 19th anniversary of its membership of NATO and the European Union.
On 30 June and 1 July, the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania hosted the premiere of a work written for this space by one of Europe’s most influential composers, Austrian Beat Furrer. Considered one of the most important composers of contemporary music and a major influence on the shaping of European music in recent decades, this is the first time that Beat Furrer has given a world premiere in Lithuania. His new work Prophezeiungen (translated from German as “Prophecy”) for voice, bass clarinet and accordion was performed at the National Library.

The PAIDEIA (European Institute of Jewish Studies in Sweden) Alumni Conference took place at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania on 8-11 June.
On June 12th the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania was visited by an official delegation of the Committee on Cultural Affairs of the Swedish Riksdag. Ambassador Ingen Buxton and colleagues of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Lithuania accompanied the guests.

On 7 June, an exhibition of Moon photographs by Italian artist Luca Missoni opens at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania.
On the 22nd of May an official delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and First Lady Mehriban Arif gizi Aliyeva visited the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. The guests were accompanied by the First Lady of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė.
On the 10th of May the American Space was opened at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania – the symbolic ribbon was cut by the U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania Robert S. Gilchrist together with the Vice-Minister of Culture Vygintas Gasparavičius and the Library’s Director General Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas.

From May 12 to 21, a series of film screenings "Classics of American Cinema" will be held in the Conference Hall of the Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania, dedicated to the opening of the American Space in the National Library. All screenings will be held in English. The program includes 4 classic American films from 1951 to 1962.
